Session Abstract:
Over the past decade, the concept of using Web-based technologies to deliver assessments has gone from cutting edge to common place. Advances in technology have created new capabilities and spurred changes in the way tests are designed, delivered and used The Internet has become the delivery medium of choice for a large number of assessment programs. In many instances, though, the assessments themselves are simply legacy versions of earlier paper-and-pencil tests, and technology is simply used as a "page turner." While this approach continues to bring significant benefits from a number of perspectives, it does not make full use of all the potential benefits of Internet technology. Over the past few years, however, some models of assessment have emerged that are starting to leverage these technological benefits. This session brings together a diverse panel of assessment experts who draw from real-world experience and research to examine new technology-driven assessment models, applications, challenges and future trends. This session also addresses the course of development of these models and how this may unfold over the next several years.
