Session Abstract:
Innovation doesn’t just happen; it must be planned. When we think about implementing dramatic change in a testing organization, we know that it will affect all processes, technology, tools, stakeholders, and constituents. All these factors must be taken into account to make the innovation successful. At the same time, much of the momentum for innovative change today comes from small business. Small businesses are lauded as “the backbone of the U.S. economy”. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy, and the Federation of Small Business in the UK, small businesses generate a majority of today's innovations. This suggests that small businesses, because of their flexibility, agility, and nimbleness, are able to drive innovation, make larger organizations more successful, and prosper. This session will discuss the results of a feasiblity study commissioned by a UK-based professional certification body to understand the implications of migrating their certification exams to a computerized testing environment. This project involved looking at their complex testing environment holistically to provide recommendations for innovative change.
